It is the native grape variety exclusive to the Piacenza area. From the study of the vine genome the confirmation of the uniqueness of Ortrugo, which has no kinship with any other Italian grape variety examined. Particularly suited to the Val Trebbia, where the calcareous soil favors a good structure with intense and elegant aromas. Giacomo Puccini, Madama Butterfly, "... un BEL DÌ vedremo."
